I haven't use these a lot so I may update this review after I have more time with the radios. So far, I was impressed with the sound quality of these radios. You don't get the distorted sound that you get with many inexpensive 2way radios. Instead you get clear voices that are easy to understand. I also like controls on this radio. I like the feel of the buttons. I've never been a fan of rotary volume controls. The battery life is good and I really like having the weather radio. I keep one of these radios handy when we are under a severe weather warning. Overall, the radios feel solid but don't appear to be real tough or weather proof, time will tell. Ok, now for the things that could be improved. The belt clip is not at all handy. It takes two hands to get the radio back on my belt. I would much prefer a spring loaded clip that can be squeezed open. I also think the volume could go louder. The sound is very clear but doesn't get real loud. I do like these radios but like all of these FRS/GMRS radios, I can't say they are a great value. Unless you are talking from mountain top to mountain top, the ranges are nowhere near what is advertised. Where I live, the trees are dense and I'm lucky to get a mile before the signal breaks up. This isn't a fault with this model radio since I have had the same results with many brands/models. In closing, remember these radios and all GMRS radios do require an FCC license.
